Bollywood Movies

Being brought up in an asian culture, I pretty much watched almost ALL the Bollywood movies. Not only did I pick up most of my grammar and sayings from these movies, but also the cheesy lines. From what I can remember, the most emotion that came from me was by watching Bollywood movies. And this was emotion on a grand level.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was the first movie I watched at the cinema. My first thoughts after I watched the movie were Magical, Romantic and Brilliant! You know what they say about Disney Movies... Yes that’s exactly how I felt.  I was this seven year old kid who had just fallen in love with Shahrukh Khan (lead role in DDLJ @iamsrk). He was and still is now, my Prince Aladdin! Shahrukh continues to capture the hearts of men and women. I believe he has made what Bollywood is now.

Aside from Shahrukh, the leading ladies are shown to be beautiful and confident. FYI - if you are are an female admirer, then Bollywood is for you. As for the little girls, like me, grew up wanting to be like these gorgeous, stunning women (of course that never happened). Nevertheless as they all looked perfect and flawless, this made me feel like that’s how we should look. I have to admit this is why I do love applying makeup, just because it makes me feel flawless.

Like all other movies, Bollywood movies are a step out of reality. The ugly truth is that life isn’t all that perfect and glamorous as it seems in Bollywood movies. What these movies showed me, was that love was something rather exceptional (agreed) and that every love story had a happy ending (So not true!). However saying that, I do know of girls who continue to think they live in a Bollywood movie.

One of the best things about Bollywood movies is that they show a good family connection. Both the lead roles always consider their families in each and every aspect of their life. Everyone also has a great deal of respect for their elders and I guess that makes us think too that we should be doing the same.

Bollywood movies are very long. They can range from 2-4 hours. Yes imagine spending that much time in the cinema! There is a lot of singing and dancing and not to mention the story line too. Personally I think it’s worth it, if Shahrukh is in the movie!

Overall I’d say Bollywood movies had a good effect on my life. I think we all need to step out of reality for a while to forget about all the horrible things in life.  if you have not seen a Bollywood movie, watch it NOW! There are a few recommendations below.
